The Deliberate Life: Holidays are Fast Approaching

Posted on November 14, 2013 by Lazyjack Press

Deliberateness is not some self-righteous mantra. It's a strategy we use to make the most of life. To be successful while achieving an optimal stress (low) to fun (high) ratio. We're coming up on the season most likely to throw us all off our game: the holidays.

Office parties, Christmas shopping, crowds of people bumping into you while Christmas shopping, traveling "home," it all has the potential to be super fun - but super stressful.

Now, listen. It's November 14. We still have time to head some of that stress off at the pass and maximize our fun. If you have travel plans, make sure they're booked. Do all your Christmas shopping - ASAP. You'll be happy you did when you get the swag in the mail well in advance of crunchtime. You won't have to run to Duane Reade on your way to the airport to pick up five gift cards from that rack by the checkout. Plan your holiday party strategy. Cut out of the office party no more than 45 minutes in - shake the powerful hands and head to a fun bar with your real-life friends. You'll avoid embarrassing yourself and have more fun.

Let's make this the smoothest, easiest, booziest holiday season ever! Cheers!

Tailgate Tunes: What We're Listening To

You might not be into French pop music, but trust us on this recommendation. Give French-language superstar Stromae's track "Papaoutai" a listen. It's hard-hitting, danceable, and sure to lock down a spot on your next tailgate playlist. You can thank us later.

Oh, and while you're at it, check out Kanye West's remix of Stromae's hit, "Alors En Danse."

Cheers!

We're all for tailgating, drunk brunch, and happy hour. But we're also for class - a quality exemplified by the gentleman above, sporting a Lazyjack Press "All Tied Up" tie with panache. He (and, as importantly, his elegant wife) expects high quality construction and usually favors Hermés ties. Lazyjack Press easily passes muster, and that's saying something.

A Change of Seasons: Crisp Beer, Crisp Air, and America's Secular Religion

Posted on September 09, 2013 by Lazyjack Press

The first NFL Sunday of 2013 is behind us, and it was strong.  If you're anything like us, you popped few cold ones. It was perfect grilling weather in most of the country, and millionaires tossed the pigskin all day and all night.  NFL football is pre-cooked Monday-morning smalltalk with co-workers. It's America's secular religion.  And we love it.  We can live this gridiron glory until February 2, and it calls to mind how great fall is.  It is bar none the best time of the year.  College, football, college football, girls in football jerseys, girls in Halloween costumes, perfect weather, jeans, sweaters, boots, Oktoberfest brews, warming bourbon, wood-burning fires.  Basically all that's good in life.  Suit up in a Lazyjack Press Buckwild tie and get after it.  We sure are.

Back to School, Back to School

In high school, September sucks. No more beach, no more stupid summer job getting paid for doing nothing, and no more summer flings. It's back to the grind: cramming for quizzes, skimming SparkNotes (are SparkNotes still a thing?), and two-a-days in the gym. But there comes a time in a young man's life when September represents all that's good in the world. You hit Costco with your mom, pack up the car, and get back to your "real" life: college. You had to slum it all summer back at home - but September brings your return to power. Independence. Girls. Bow ties and blazers at football games, if you're lucky. And the great thing is, September will represent all those things for the rest of your life. College is only the beginning. You know how senior year was better than junior year, which was better than sophomore year, which kicked freshman year's ass? Yeah, life keeps going like that. So let's take a moment, as we approach September, to make sure that's happening. Let's get back to school.
